New Mastery Challenge Game Mode is Coming to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Ubisoft seems adamant about keeping its promise of providing “Biggest, Longest, Strongest,” support for Assasin’s Creed Valhalla. After dropping Wrath of the Druids, the first DLC of the game, last month, the developers have announced that an elaborate Mastery Challenge is coming to AC Valhalla via a free update.

As explained by Community Manager Dan St. Germain in the informative trailer linked below, the new Mastery Challenge ties into the game’s central narrative through Battle Meditation.

Players will gain access to three individual trials through different shrines in England. Each of these trials will throw players into a tiered challenge that will test their expertise in melee combat, ranged combat, and stealth.

These new challenges will test even the most seasoned Vikings in AC Valhalla. Each trial will provide players with a locked equipment loadout that will be unchangeable.

The mode will also come with goal and difficulty modifiers, along with bonus reward mechanisms. For instance, players who steal all artifacts during an objective or remain anonymous during the Trial of the Raven will score bonus points. The total score awarded will result in a bronze, silver, or gold medal that players can exchange for exclusive rewards.

These rewards include weapons, tattoo cosmetics, or decorations that will appear in the player’s settlement.

There is one prerequisite for any player who plans to unlock and access the Mastery Challenges: you must have a power level of 221.

This is a pretty strong indicator of how challenging the mode will be. However, it could also mean that Ubisoft is trying to get players to grind AC Valhalla or push players to return to the game before the update drops.

A “mythical mystery” might also be a part of the update, and it will most likely link the challenge mode with the game’s primary narrative. How extensive this link will be will become apparent when the update arrives for free on Tuesday, June 15.

The next DLC for AC Valhalla, The Siege of Paris, is set to arrive this summer.
