Cyberpunk 2077’s First Free DLC Will Add New Cosmetic Options

In a live stream yesterday that detailed Patch 1.3, Cyberpunk 2077’s biggest patch yet, CD Projekt Red revealed the game’s first DLC that will be available to all at no extra cost.

The developers did not mention a release date for the patch and, by extension the DLC, but said that it would be released “really soon.”

According to patch notes, Patch 1.3 brings many changes and improvements as is customary with all Cyberpunk updates.

But if you were expecting the game’s first DLC to add some new missions, or tech, or characters, or anything worthwhile, prepare to be sorely disappointed.

The DLC will primarily bring cosmetic changes to the game in the form of two outfits and one car. The car will be available as a reward for completing the Ghost Town mission and as a separate purchase. Here’s a more precise breakdown:

  • Johnny Silverhand’s Alternative Appearance – can be enabled in Settings in the “Additional Content” tab.
  • Multilayered Syn-Leather Deltajock Jacket, Luminescent Punk Jacket – both available in the stash in V’s apartment after receiving a message from Viktor after completing The Ride. They’re of Rare/Iconic quality by default; Crafting Specs to craft a higher quality will also be unlocked.
  • Archer Quartz “Bandit” – available as a reward or for purchase (depending on choices made by player) after completing Ghost Town and then receiving a message from Dakota or Rogue. If you haven’t received the message, make sure to be in the Badlands area and move further away from Dakota’s workshop. Dakota will also need a couple of days to contact you.

Evidently, from a new content standpoint, Patch 1.3 is nothing to write home about.

But it’s important to note that the update is bringing a legion of qualitative changes to Cyberpunk 2077, which should significantly improve the game across platforms if things go as planned.

As a result, CDPR will have a strong base game to develop and release new content for, which will keep fans happy in the long term.

Some of these changes include highly-requested ones like improving the mini-map’s zoom level when driving, increased number of slots for game saves, added comparison tooltip for cyberware, and more.

Patch 1.3 should drop sometime soon for consoles, PC, and Stadia.

About Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.

Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
