Cyberpunk 2077’s Photo Mode Is Filled With A Ton Of References!

The debut trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 showcases references to a ton of different works of media, one of which is a reference to the iconic 1992’s classic anime Sailor Moon.

The snapshot mode for Cyberpunk is looking super neat, to be honest. Similar to how Demon’s Souls photo mode worked, Cyberpunk’s mode comes with many different features and stuff like filters, effects, stickers, and poses for players, with all of them looking super cool, at least from what the trailer showed.

The poses, especially, references a ton of other famous shows, games, and anime, one of which is the previously mentioned Sailor Moon reference, meaning that the players will have access to Usagi’s iconic Sailor Moon pose through the game’s snapshot mode.

I mean, it’s honestly no surprise that CDPR decided to include a reference to such an iconic manga and anime series, which, from the moment it was released, became one of the most significant cultural phenomena in Japan and all over the world.

Many of you may not know that the franchise, which spawned from the success of the 1992 Toei adaptation of the manga, has generated almost $14 billion in worldwide merchandise sales.

Oh, and by the way, the pose has been titled “In the name of the moon, I’ll punish you!” Now, I don’t know about you, but for me, personally, that’s the best part of it.

As I mentioned in the beginning, Sailor Moon isn’t the only franchise that has received a little wink-wink from CDPR. There’s another equally famous anime that has also received recognition from CDPR. I honestly don’t even need to mention its name other than scream, “KONO DIO DA!”

Yeah, there’s a pose in here titled “V’s Bizarre Pose” that replicates Dio’s iconic pose.

There’s a lot more of these references, and it honestly turns up the excitement for the release of Cyberpunk 2077 all the way to eleven. That said, let’s see if you can find all the other references thrown in the trailer.

Here’s a hint to get you started: Solaire from Dark Souls is also in there somewhere.

Have fun!

About Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.

Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
