EA Unveils New Studio Working on Skate

EA has revealed a new studio, Full Circle, heading the development of their new Skate game. EA announced the long-awaited Skate 4 during EA Play 2020, pleasing the fans of the franchise.

With the release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 and the reception that it received, it is clear that we have entered a renaissance period of skating games. Now, EA is working on a game to ‘dominate the park.’ Originally the competitor of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, the last Skate game was Skate 3, which was released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2013.

EA unveiled a new studio, Full Circle, which is working on the new Skate game. The new game was announced during EA Play 2020. However, there is no release date yet.

Former General Manager of Xbox Live, Daniel McCulloch, is heading Full Circle, based in Vancouver, Canada. McCulloch has also been involved with the Forza Motorsports series and Microsoft’s first-party Kinect games.

In a press release, McCulloch said,

“The fans wished Skate back into existence and we want them to feel involved in the process from development to game launch and beyond. We want them to feel like they are a part of Full Circle. We’re all about having fun and making great games that people want to play with their friends. And, we’re looking for more developers to help us build compelling worlds for players to explore.”

Series creators Deran Chung and Chris “Cuz” Perry would be working alongside McCulloch to bring the latest Skate game to life. EA said that their creative leadership has been “integral to the creation of the franchise and the development of all three original games.”

At the moment, there are several vacancies at Full Circle, which are listed on its official page. These range from Gameplay Mechanics Designer to Activities Designer, and many more in between. The page also states that the team is “working on the next evolution of Skate.” However, the studio has not released an official name for the new title.
