New Features, Modes & More Unveiled in Gran Turismo 7’s State of Play

Sony’s first State of Play of 2022 took place today, and as announced, the center stage belonged to Gran Turismo 7.Through one 30-minutes long gameplay footage, developer Polyphony Studio gave fans a thorough look at the stupendous features that this much-awaited racing title will pack.

The event started with Gran Turismo 7’s Director Kazunori Yamauchi declaring the upcoming game as the “most complete” one in the franchise so far. He then went on to claim that GT7 is developed in such a way that it’ll serve the casuals and experts alike, establishing that it’s a title for gamers of all stripes.

The showcase further confirmed that Gran Turismo 7 would roll out with over 400 incredible cars, 34 different locations, 90 varied layouts, and 100+ race events. On top of this, users will also get to race on remade tracks that previous GT games housed. Be ready to get all nostalgic.

To take things to the next level, the footage also revealed gripping new features like GT Cafe. If you ever wanted to have a conversation with the creators and designers of Gran Turismo 7’s most awe-inspiring cars, just visit GT Cafe through the game’s World Map.

Another unique feature that you’ll get to try in the GT7 is the Used Car Dealership. Found on the World Map, this place will let you purchase a vast catalog of old cars at a discounted rate. In case you are out of money but still want to rev up the sweetest rides of the game, then this is the feature for you.

Talking about new locations, a museum is also a part of Gran Turismo 7 this time. Visiting it will help you learn about a specific car’s design or the history of a particular manufacturer and come back enlightened.

Another thing unveiled during the event that left enthusiasts speechless is the game’s dynamic weather system.

Attention to detail is something that the GT series prides itself upon, and that is the case with Gran Turismo 7 as well. In an attempt to take realism to the next level, the racing title gathered “vast amounts” of meteorological data to correctly replicate weather patterns in each region.

While this move by the developer will make the graphics absolutely breathtaking, it will have an impact on gameplay too. Be it temperature, precipitation, or moisture, all sorts of weather conditions will influence your car’s performance.

In addition to this, music-related content is also making its way to Gran Turismo 7 with the arrival of two features: Music Replays and Music Rally.

Music Replays will allow you to rewatch your race replays with cameras in accord with the soundtrack of your choice. On the other hand, Music Rally will task you with driving to the beat of your selected song along a track. You’ll lose if you fail to reach the finish line before time runs out.

Moreover, besides quelling your thirst for racing, Gran Turismo 7 will feature a mode for photography lovers too. Called Scape mode, the function will allow you to click snaps of your favorite car by letting you place it on different locations across a sprawling map.

Owing to the game’s surreal list of capabilities which includes real-time ray tracing, 4K resolution, 60 fps, and HDR support, you can be assured that your snapshot will be brimming with beauty.
