GTA V Bags the First Place for Top Game Streamed on Twitch in March 2021

With the Covid-19 pandemic locking us all in our home last year, video game streaming platform Twitch saw a surge of new viewers wanting to watch their favorite streamers play video games. Although the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic is still an ongoing issue in 2021, Twitch and video game streaming is still holding strong.

One such game in particular is gamers’ favorite GTA V. Released in 2013, this 8 year old game is still racking in tons of viewers for its chaotic gameplays.

GTA V’s latest achievement includes being the most watched and top game streamed on Twitch in March 2021.

According to StreamElements GTA V has successfully snatched the first place crown for the most watched and streamed game of March 2021, gathering about 181M watch-time hours in total.

GTA V is right under the “Just Chatting” category of Twitch which has over 265M watchtime hours in March 2021 alone. GTA V is still the top “game” streamed on Twitch as of right now, closely followed by League of Legends racking in143M hours and Fortnite gathering 107M hours.

But, you must be wondering why this 8 year old game is suddenly getting this massive viewership?

Well, it might be because of the pandemic forcing up to stay indoors and people reverting to video games for social interaction. It might also be because of the boom of GTA Online and tremendously popular streamers like xQcOW, Valkyrae, Sykkuno etc. showing interest in GTA Online RP servers. Whatever the case, I’m glad the game is getting all the attention it deserves.
