God of War (2018) is an action-adventure RPG game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation and PC. This latest edition of the God of War series follows the journey of Kratos, the fierce spartan demigod, and his son Atreus to the tallest mountain peak in all nine realms of the Norse world.
The God of War (2018) contains 17 Main story chapters and 24 side quests. These 24 side quests consist of:

Barlog mentioned that it was a game designer who completed the game within 43 hours, so naturally, the game length for an average player will be a little more.
According to the website HowLongtoBeat, which tracks how long it takes players to finish games on average, it takes 21 hours to complete just the main story, 33 hours to complete the main story + extras, and 51 hours to 100% complete the God of War (2018).
These are the average statistics, and the playtime may vary depending on the difficulty settings and playstyle. Rushing through the story will take way less time than enjoying the game at its full potential and understanding its storyline.

God of War (2018) is a long game, the longest of the GoW series. The original God of War (2005) took just 12.5 hours to complete, almost the same as its sequel, God of War 2 (2007). In 2010, God of War 3 became the lengthiest title of the series by date, which takes 17 hours to complete.
Compared to God of War 3, it takes way more than double the time to complete God of War (2018), making it the longest game of the series so far. Judging by the trend, the upcoming sequel God of War: Ragnarok should also feature a more extended or at least an equal playtime as of GoW (2018).
