MS Flight Simulator Update Has Been Delayed for these 3 Countries

If there is anything that Microsoft Flight Simulator prides itself on, it’s how realistically the in-game world has been developed.

And with each World Update, the developers aim to flesh out a handful of countries in terms of overall visuals, points of interest, additional airports, and other improvements.

But, recent news has stated that World Update 6 has been delayed and that Germany, Austria, and Switzerland will have to wait a while before being updated.

Developer Asobo Studio stated in a blog post,

In order to ensure that World Update 6 reaches a very high level of quality, we have decided to move back the release date to September 7th. We are very excited about this update as it features many enhancements to the region, including new aerials and elevation maps, new photogrammetry cities, 4 hand-crafted airports , nearly 100 POIs, and new discovery flights, landing challenges, and bush trips. It’s a ton of content, and we want to make sure that it will be great.

Some of the other changes and fixes that will be included in this update are a tweak to the navigation issue where the ATC asks you to change your altitude for no reason, VFR map issues, and the addition of the new ARINC cycle 2108.

The SR22 airplane has also been reworked for a better match to the Pilot’s Operating Handbook, and Gyro Drift has been balanced depending on the difficulty that has been chosen.

An off-screen terrain pre-caching graphics setting has also been added to avoid any texture popping, but this may affect overall performance. Players will also be able to see buildings from much further away as maximum photogrammetry draw distance has also been increased.

Last month Asobo’s work on an Xbox version of Microsoft Flight Simulator resulted in an upgrade for the PC version as well.

Sebastian Wloch, CEO of Asobo Studios, showed how the game was running on ultra settings at 35fps on a development PC before the patch and how after the patch, the frame rate jumped to between 50fps and 60fps.

Microsoft Flight Simulator has been one of the staples of PC gaming and has been used as a benchmark for many gaming rigs.

The high level of detail that has been put into creating the in-game world has made it possible for many people to explore the world without having to leave their homes—a boon for many during a global pandemic.
