New Leak Suggests NVIDIA’s RTX 3050 May Release in Early 2022

Even though the industry is going through a component shortage coupled with logistical issues due to the pandemic, manufacturers are blazing ahead with announcing and launching new and improved products. 2022 is looking to be an exciting year for PC gamers and hardware enthusiasts, as a lot of stuff will be coming out. But, it all depends on whether it will be readily available.

Leaked info has been hinting at the release of NVIDIA’s 40 series GPUs, along with iterations on the 3070, 3080, and 3090. A recent leak has also suggested a new card, the NVIDIA RTX 3050, may be in the works and will compete with AMD and Intel offerings.

This leak comes to us from VideoCardz and is a follow-up to the previous rumors of the RTX 3050. The rumors have previously hinted that the company could be working on a 3050 and 3050 Ti, but the cards had been shelved to focus on NVIDIA’s line-up of 30 series graphics cards. A new source has now stated that the RTX 3050 is back on the menu and has a tentative release window of Q2 2022.

The RTX 3050 will allegedly come with the “GA106-150” GPU, which will perform in the ballpark of the currently available GTX 1660 Super and the upcoming RTX 2060 12GB. The GTX 1660 Super launched at $229, and the rumored price of the RTX 2060 12GB is $300. So, the leaked info suggests that the RTX 3050 will be targeted at entry-level gaming PC builds. It will support both DLSS and ray tracing but come with an economical price tag.

Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060

NVIDIA did not need an RTX 3050, as it has been earning a lot more using silicone to create RTX 3070, 3080, and 3090 cards. But, with AMD now ready to release the 6500XT in the first months of 2022 and Intel also joining the GPU market at the lower-end with the Arc A128 GPU, NVIDIA needs something to combat the two.

It will most likely be in limited supply and undoubtedly will be a sought-after card by gamers, scalpers, and crypto miners alike. It will also probably have impressive performance compared to AMD and Intel’s offerings, even if the Intel Arcs are “easier to get a hold of.”
