Version 2.1 is the next significant update arriving for Genshin Impact on September 1. The update will introduce four new playable characters (including Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn), a new fishing system, new bosses to fight, and a new island to explore.
Fans can hardly wait to try out all the new content coming to the game, and now, it has become evident that fans on PC and mobile will have to wait for lesser than those on PS4 and PS5.
In a post on its website, developer Mihoyo recently announced pre-install times for update 2.1.
Those playing on PC and mobile can pre-install on August 30th at 11:00 (UTC+8), i.e., 7 AM EST. Players on PS4|5 will have to wait until September 1 to begin installing the update.
miHoYo also revealed that players on mobile would be unable to play the game while new game resources are downloading. Players on PC will not have to go through this as they can still play the game while installing new data.
The amount of time taken to finish downloading resources, and ultimately when you can start playing, will depend on network strength, so make sure your connection is strong.
There are two methods mobile players on iOS and Android can employ to download the new update:
- For iOS: Go to Paimon Menu > Settings > Other > Pre-Install Resource Package. Or update the Genshin Impact app from the App store.
- For Android: Go to Paimon Menu > Settings > Other > Pre-Install Resource Package. Or update the app from the Google Play menu.
On PC, players will first need to update the Genshin Impact Launcher. After the launcher is updated, a Game Pre-Installation button to download new resources will appear next to the Launch button.
miHiYo has not announced any pre-install info for console players or revealed when update 2.1 would be available to download on September 1.
We’re unsure if we’ll get any details for console pre-installs, but Mihoyo should announce the official time of the update any day now.
