Sebastian’s Fate in Hogwarts Legacy: Should you turn him in or not?

Sebastian Sallow is an important companion character in Hogwarts Legacy. Players’ lives turn upside down when they meet him in the fifth year. He takes them on a dark journey into the Undercroft, a secret area within Hogwarts Castle, involving the three unforgivable curses and the murder of his uncle, Solomon Sallow, by his own hands.

After Sebastian kills his uncle during the “In The Shadow Of The Relic” relationship quest, you can choose to criticize him, or you can say that everyone should know the Avada Kedavra curse and then learn it for yourself.

Later “In The Shadow Of Fate” quest, players get the choice to either turn Sebastian in for his evil deed or let him go.

Players should turn Sebastian in for killing his uncle and refuse to learn the Avada Kedavra curse for moral reasons. Still, if you are doing an evil playthrough, it is more suitable not to turn Sebastian in and learn all three unforgivable curses from him.

Turn Sebastian In or Let Him Go

This choice plays a significant role in the entire game and even affects the true ending of Hogwarts Legacy, so it is important to know the consequences of both choices before you make your decision.

What happens if you turn Sebastian in?

Sebastian will be expelled from Hogwarts if you “turn him in” in Hogwarts Legacy, and players will not be able to interact with him again in the game.

Moreover, he will be taken to the Ministry of Magic to face justice. The most significant impact of this choice on the gameplay is that if Sebastian hasn’t already taught you the three Unforgivable Curses, he never will.

With no Avada Kedavra spell, you cannot one-shot enemies. So, if you are doing an evil playthrough, then this choice is probably not the best.

Lastly, during the game’s true ending, the protagonist will meet Ominis Gaunt and reveal to him that it was Rookwood who cursed Anne, Sebastian’s sister.

What happens if you do not turn Sebastian in?

Sebastian will continue to stay in Hogwarts if players decide not to turn him in. Additionally, you can talk to him later to learn the three unforgivable curses if he has not taught you already.

Furthermore, this time players will reveal the same fact about Anne’s curse to Sebastian instead of Ominis Gaunt during the true ending.

From a moral perspective, this is not the correct choice, and ideally, you should not choose to do so, in my opinion. Still, if you desperately want to learn the infamous unforgivable curses, this is the only way you can do it.

Do choices matter in Hogwarts Legacy?

The choices made during the Sebastian Sallow relationship questline matter significantly in Hogwarts Legacy as they decide whether you learn the three unforgivable curses or not, but other side quest choices do not matter much in the game.

However, even Sebastian choices do not affect the main story’s ending or alter any of the major plot points in Hogwarts Legacy. It is safe to say that most of the choices in the game are insignificant, and they merely exist just to make the game more interactive.
