Street Fighter 6 New Open Beta Announced by Capcom for Next Week

Street Fighter 6 is shaping up to be one of the biggest fighting games of this year, with stats from EVO early-bird registration showing that it’s already the number one game in the popular tournament. It’s safe to say that fans can’t wait to get their hands on the title.

Earlier, Capcom released 2 closed betas for the game, giving fans of the franchise a taste of what’s to come. Then they released a demo for PS4 and PS5, but it wasn’t much as the demo only allowed players to access tutorial modes and the game’s World Tour section.

Capcom has now announced a new open beta for Street Fighter 6 which will begin on Friday, May 19, at 07:00 UTC, and end on Monday, May 22, at 07:00 UTC. It’ll be available for 3 days. Players can start downloading the open beta from May 16 at 7:00 UTC.

The open beta will feature cross-play on PS5, Xbox, and Steam. PS4 players unfortunately won’t be able to access the open beta. The open beta will include everything that was featured in the second closed beta. Modes which will be included are:

  • Ranked match
  • Casual match
  • Battle Hub match
  • Open tournament
  • Extreme Battle
  • Game Center
  • Training Mode

The open beta will also include the 8 characters that were previously featured in the closed beta. The 8 characters are as follows:

  • Ryu
  • Jamie
  • Chun-Li
  • Juri
  • Kimberly
  • Guile
  • Luke
  • Ken

The open beta will require 25GB of storage space, which is quite a bit shorter than the second closed beta, which required 42GB. Capcom has also stated that the game might have periods of maintenance during the beta, so be sure to check their socials regularly during the beta. It’s safe to say that the hype for this game is building rapidly as we move closer to launch.

Street Fighter 6 releases on June 2 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
