Get Heisenberg’s Hammer, More Melee Weapons with this RE Village Mod

Almost immediately after launch, the mod community took a major fancy to Resident Evil Village. As fans flocked to the game to immerse themselves in its creepy and gothic setting, modders began to toy with the game’s mechanics to see what they could add to the now highly acclaimed title. This churned out some interesting results including the arrival of Thomas the Tank Engine, an FOV slider, and the one and the only, Spongebob Squarepants.

The latest mod to come out of the mod factory brings something fans would love to keep handy: more melee weapons.

The More Melee Weapons mod by MadMaxLiS adds a selection of weapons that come not only from previous Resident Evil games, but also from Resident Evil Village. Weapons used by NPCs, that are normally unobtainable for the player, are now available for the player via the mod. This includes Heisenberg’s Hammer and Lady Dimitrescu’s knife; the former is normally only available as a crafting item to be sold at the in-game store while the latter is completely inaccessible except for in a cutscene.

However, there are a few caveats. Firstly, More Melee Weapons is a “only model swap mod”. This means that while the mod changes the 3D model of a weapon, the weapon will function as originally intended. So, Lady Dimitrescu’s knife will not deal any more damage than a default knife should you use the mod to put the Lady’s knife in your hands. This is much like the mod that replaces Moraica enemies with Scream’s Ghostface. Secondly, the mod only allows one model swap at a time.

More Melee Weapon is a perfect fit for those looking to make a change to their slashing/shooting/chopping experience in RE Village. Those who wish to install the mod will need to have Fluffy Manager pre-installed which is good as Fluffy ensures a quick and user-friendly installation. Additionally, Fluffy also brings an FOV slider and the ability to disable the vignette effect in RE Village allowing you to see the game’s terrifying locales and monsters in greater detail.

While RE Village has seen a great launch on the whole, things haven’t been all positive. Capcom was recently accused of plagiarism by a Dutch filmmaker who alleges that the company copied all of his monster designs and used them for RE Village.
