You’ve gotten right into Valheim and are doing pretty good for surviving in a mysterious land. Now it’s time to take it to the next level and start looking for some more essential items like the leather Scraps.
Valheim is a survival RPG game, and you need to survive in an unknown environment that can be very punishing. Leather Scraps are going to be extremely essential as you move on from the rudimentary items to more complex tools. You can always go out and hunt boars, but taming will provide you with an unlimited supply.
1. How to Tame Boars in Valheim?
To tame a boar in Valheim, build a pen and lure a boar into it. Then just drop in food for the boar and wait for it to eat it.
This is easier said than done. First of all, you need to actually find a boar. Boars are found in the Meadows Biome. Specifically, they roam around the open field where mushrooms grow and the runestones are.
Now it’s time to get the boar to follow you into the pen. Feed the boars some mushrooms, and it will start following you.
Lead the boar into the pen and create a fence at the pen entrance to prevent the boar from escaping. Now it’s time to begin taming the boars.
To tame boars, you just have to feed them. They will eat mushrooms, berries, or carrots. Once they eat the dropped food, yellow hearts will appear over them, signifying that they are now domesticated. Congrats, you’ve got a pet boar!
If you’ve got more than two boars in the same enclosure, they will mate and produce more boars. This way, you can get a steady supply of meat and leather. Keep in mind tamed boars will now only eat carrots. Keep them in plenty of supply.
2. How to Tame Wolves?
In order to tame a wolf in Valheim, lure them using raw meat into a pen made by stake walls and feed them.
Taming wolves is pretty similar to boars, with a few exceptions. Firstly, wolves are found in the Mountain biome. You need either regular campfires or an anti-freeze potion. Secondly, wolves can and will hurt you, so be ready with some defensive gear.
Lure the wolf using raw meat and make sure to make a stronger pen using stake walls as wolves will tear out the standard fence. Similar to boars, wolves will also start mating. Unlike boars though, tamed wolves will begin following you and even support you during fights.
3. How to Tame a Lox in Valheim?
The third animal that you can tame in Valheim is a large and robust wild creature called Lox. They can be found in herds in the Plains Biome. Just by looking at them, one can easily comprehend that petting them will be no simple task.
If these dangerous creatures are frightened by you, they can kill you with just a single blow. Tread very carefully when around them.
To tame a lox in Valheim, you can rely on different ways that suit your style.
I. Taming a Lox Using Stealth
Get very close to a lox in a stealthy way so that it is not aware of your presence.
Drop-in some barley or cloudberries, the food that a lox prefers. As a lox eats food, it will radiate yellow hearts indicating that you are taming it. Constantly resupply the lox with food, and after a few in-game days, the lox will finally be tamed by you.
You can check the level of a lox’s tameness by drifting your mouse over it.
Now all you have to do is build a stone pen and take the lox inside it. Remember that the pen should not be made with wood as it is not sturdy enough to contain a beast as strong as a lox.
II. Taming a Lox by Lurking It into a Pen
Build a pen from stone as no other raw material is powerful enough to contain a lox. Like a wolf and boar, try to lurk the wild beast into the pen by dropping barley or cloudberries.
As you drop its food, the Lox will start chasing you. The challenge here is that lox is very slow and simpleminded, so guiding them to a pen can be demanding.
Once inside a pen, ensure that it faces no shortage of food. As a lox eats, the tameness meter will start filling. Once it touches 100%, you will have got yourself a new pet.
A lox will provide the following drop items:
- Lox Meat
- Lox pelt
- Lox trophy
It must be kept in mind that a lox cannot reproduce. Therefore, it doesn’t matter how many you catch.
4. Getting Leather Scraps in Valheim?
Leather Scraps are dropped occasionally by boars and deers in addition to raw meat in Valheim. Leather scraps can be used to make various tools and items.
Taming and breeding boars is not only good for an unlimited supply of raw meat but also for the leather scraps that you get.
