Shattered Runes: Use & Locations – God of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok features tons of new resource that you can use to craft or upgrade armors and weapons. You’ve probably come across a resource known as Shattered Runes while exploring the Nine Realms. You may even have lots of it as well if you’re a few hours into the game.

Shattered Runes have no used other than to be converted into Hacksilver. You can sell Shatted Runes by heading over to Brok or Sindri’s shop, and accessing the ‘Sell’ section. Then under resources, you’ll find the option to sell 50 Shattered Runes for 5,000 Hacksilver.

5,000 Hacksilver is a pretty decent deal for 50 Shattered Runes. They cannot be used to upgrade anything and have absolutely no purpose, other than being sold to Brok and Sindri for Hacksilver.

Shattered Runes do come in handy when you are short of Hacksilver. They can be sold in bulks of 50 pieces of each so if you possess a lot of Shattered Runes, you can get a ton of Hacksilver in no time. Hacksilver is used to upgrade both Kraots as well as Atreus’ armors.

Shattered Runes have no specific locations where it can be found. Opening chests and coffins, breaking boxes and barrels that you come across and defeating enemies will help you obtain a ton of Shattered Runes. Treasure Maps are also a good source to obtain Shattered Runes.

Shattered Runes are very easy to obtain as they are a common material, which have very little purpose in the game. By the end of God of War Ragnarok, your inventory will be filled with Shattered Runes, which you can sell to get a lot of Hacksilver.

Best ways to spend the newly acquired Hacksilver in God of War Ragnarok

Spending Hacksilver – God of War Ragnarok

The best items to spend Hacksilver on would be better armors, enchantments and relics to help you progress through the story without getting stuck often. Runic Attack upgrades are also immensely helpful so you may as well put your Hacksilver into those too.

However, spending Hacksilver on Resurrection Stones and other resources would be a waste. If you purchase better armors and upgrade them for Kratos and Atreus, you wouldn’t need to spend Hacksilver to purchase Resurrection Stones of any rarity. You can finish the game without Resurrection Stones, so it’s better to spend the Hacksilver on something useful.
