Latest Xbox Update Brings Fix for Quick Resume Bug

Some Xbox users have been facing the Quick Resume bug for a while now, but the latest update from the company is looking to fix the glitch.

While Xbox and PlayStation next-gen consoles are eight months old, they aren’t exactly perfect. But, the good thing about this era of gaming is that if a console runs into some software issue, it can usually be fixed easily with an update. Xbox’s latest patch, which has been released for its Insiders as of now, is looking to do just that for the Quick Resume bug.

Both Xbox and PlayStation have added features to the Xbox Series X|S and PS5, respectively, allowing players to jump into games without needing to boot them up from the start. The PS5 has included Activity Cards, while the Xbox has added Quick Resume, which allows users to pick up the game right from where they left off.

However, some users have been saying Quick Resume throws up a black screen. When the feature is selected, the game reboots from the start, making the feature useless. The latest Xbox update for Insiders version 2108.210708-2200 patch notes reads, “fixed an issue where some Quick Resume titles would show a black screen when resuming and then reload from start.” We’re hoping this means the issue has been sorted for good.

Also included in the patch notes are some additions Xbox has made to the console, such as “various updates to properly reflect local languages across the console.” This new update will be made available first to Xbox Insider members who are a part of the Alpha Skip Ahead Program. These members will provide feedback on the latest changes before the update is released for everyone else.

Xbox has a pretty consistent track record of rolling out an update every month. The company released one back in May, which improved its Quick Resume feature. May’s update didn’t fix a glitch; it just made the feature even faster than it originally was in the past. Rumors have also resurfaced that Live Gold will soon become obsolete and that Xbox is waiting for its Game Pass to reach a certain level of subscribers before pulling the plug on its lesser monthly service.
